A Quiet Departure: Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Talib Hameed No Longer Listed Among Masjid An Nabawi Imams

Admin

In a development that has stirred heartfelt reflections across the Ummah, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Talib Hameed is no longer listed among the official Imams of Masjid An Nabawi, as confirmed by Inside the Haramain.

His absence was first quietly noticed during the spiritually intense final ten nights of Ramadan 1446, a time when his serene and soul-stirring voice is deeply missed by worshippers and visitors alike. Though no formal statement was issued at the time, it was widely understood through trusted sources that the Sheikh had taken a step back from leading prayers due to personal reasons.

Clarity began to emerge during an official operational meeting held at the Prophet’s Mosque on 8 May 2025 (10 Shawwal 1446). A presentation by the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques listed only ten Imams down from the usual eleven signaling Sheikh Ahmed’s absence from the current roster.

This silent confirmation follows a familiar precedent. A similar update occurred last year when Sheikh Yasir Ad-Dawsary’s quiet departure from Masjid Al Haram was reflected in internal listings, before his eventual reappointment was formally announced.

It is important to note that the General Presidency rarely issues public announcements regarding changes in Imam appointments whether resignations, dismissals, or extended leaves so no direct statement is expected in this case either.

As it stands today, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed bin Talib Hameed is not among the official Imams of Masjid An Nabawi. While this may mark a pause, it does not necessarily signify a permanent departure. History has shown us that returns are possible, and the hearts of many continue to pray for his well-being and potential return.

This report is shared to bring clarity amidst growing speculation, based on verified developments.

AL-ISTIQAMAH will continue to follow updates from the Two Holy Mosques and share them with the Ummah, In Sha Allah.
