O believers, congratulations on reaching this great and blessed month! Congratulations on witnessing its honoured days and cherished nights, where you find comfort in its shade, and comfort from drinking from its refreshing springs of goodness.

Indeed, it is a time of immense virtue its nights are radiant, its days are blessed, and its opportunities are beyond compare.

Allah has blessed this month for the Ummah, making it the most distinguished of months – a time of devotion and faith, and a spring of righteousness.

To be granted the opportunity to witness Ramadan is an immense blessing that requires gratitude to the One who granted it. It is a blessed time, a noble time and an opportunity to draw closer to Allah.

In this month, a person can achieve spiritual growth in ways that may not be possible at other times, due to the abundance of opportunities to worship and the ease of performing acts of righteousness.

Brothers and sisters in Islam, The month of Ramadan is a time when souls turn back to Allah. It is the time when weary hearts find rest, burdens are laid down, and the thirsty soul drinks from its pure and refreshing streams. Amid a hard life, and the intensity of the trials found within it, the soul finds comfort in the refreshing shade of Ramadan.

No matter how distant a believer is from Allah, no matter how hardened their heart is or how dry their eyes have become, kernels of goodness still lie within. Deep within every soul, there is a longing for the serene and lush gardens of dhikr and a pain from the loneliness of being far from Allah.

One of the greatest secrets behind hearts turning toward Allah in Ramadan finding joy in obedience, tasting the sweetness of closeness to Him, and experiencing the delight of making du’a to Him is the immense mercy and blessings He pours upon His servants during this month. He opens the doors of goodness, opens multiple paths to His mercy, and showers His blessings that are beyond measure.

This is also the month of the Qur’an, when its ayaat were sent down and its blessings spread across the entire world. It is only natural, then, that the words of Allah inspire goodness in hearts and souls, leading them to perform righteous deeds. Ramadan is the month in which the chains of the soul are broken, its impulses and desires are restrained and restricted freeing it from that which constrains it.

This liberation allows the soul to race toward being obedient to its Creator. So, congratulations to the one who witnesses this blessed time, makes the most of its moments, and strives to please their Lord.

The month of Ramadan carries profound wisdom, and the lofty goals of the Shariah are sought through it, inspiring every believer to stand in awe of this wise command. Ramadan serves as a school for one’s inner self, a means to rectify one’s character, to discipline one’s desires, and serves as a lesson in patience and endurance. Its purpose is far greater than just refraining from permissible things at certain times; rather, it fosters deep spiritual and moral transformation, shaping individuals and the society they live in.

Fasting is an act of worship that is unseen, a secret act of worship between the servant and their Lord. It is an act of true sincerity where one refrains from food, drink, and other longings not because others are watching but out of true devotion to Allah and consciousness of His presence [knowing that He is watching].

Externally, there is no noticeable difference between one who isn’t eating because their stomach is full and one who does the same to worship Allah. So, fasting is an act of devotion that reflects absolute servitude to Allah and having deep consciousness of Him. Even when hidden from the eyes of people, the fasting person refrains from their desires out of love and submission to their Creator.

May Allah grant us sincerity in our fasting, raise us [in ranks] through this blessed act of worship, and make us among those who attain Ihsan in this sacred month.

O Allah, grant victory to our oppressed Muslim brothers and sisters wherever they may be. O Allah, be a helper and supporter to the Muslims in Palestine, and set right the affairs of the Muslims in every land.
